Paint Valley Bands
The Paint Valley Band Program is strong! Students may elect to join the band starting in 5th Grade and may continue in band all the way through 12th Grade (and beyond). Here are some of the opportunities that exist at various levels:
5th Grade Band
Open to any 5th Grade Student.
Come learn how to play an instrument.
6th Grade Band
6th Grade Students who successfully completed 5th Grade Band.
Continue to develop fundamentals needed for Concert/Symphonic Band.
Cadet Band
6th - 12th grade, no experience required.
For students past 5th grade who are new to band.
For students who have had a year of band, but may need a little extra help before going to concert band.
Concert Band
7th - 12th Grade, one year of band required.
Full band music all the way.
Develop skills needed to successfully audition into Symphonic Band.
Symphonic Band
8-12 grade, by audition only.
Paint Valley's primer performance ensemble.
Travel to universities across the state for clinics.
Travel across state lines in a band performance trip every 4 years.
Compete OMEA District and State Large Group Events.
Perform for PVHS Graduation.
Marching Band
8th - 12th Grade, after one successful year of Concert Band.
100% outside of the school day.
Must be enrolled in Concert or Symphonic Band concurrently (special exceptions for vocational school students)
Perform at every varsity football game, parades, and the Ross County Fair.
Travel across the state to perform at marching festivals.
Bring home the trophy at the Pickaway-Ross Battle of the Bands.
Pep Band
Open to all Concert / Symphonic Band Members.
Play at home Boys & Girls Basketball Games.
Laid Back ensemble playing exciting music.
Jazz Band
Open to all Concert / Symphonic Band Members.
After School Ensemble formed at the conclusion of Marching Band.
Play in standalone and joint concerts with PV and other county Bands.
Ross Brown Honor Band
5th/6th Grade Honor Band.
Combine with 6-10 other school districts to make a mega awesome band.
By nomination only.
Ross County Summer Youth Band
5th - 8th Grade.
Join with other band enthusiasts from the other 7 Ross County Schools to play music all summer long.
Performance at the Ross County Fair.
District XVI Honor Band
7th/8th Grade by nomination only.
9-12 by audition only.
Combine with the best of the best across 20 school districts.
District XVI Solo & Ensemble
7th - 12th Grade.
Perform a solo or in a small group of 3-8 friends.
Earn ratings and metals based on performance.
Ross County Honor Band
9th - 12th Grade by audition only.
Ross County's Highest Music Ensemble.
Prepare music on your own and meet up for a final rehearsal and concert.
Great Seal of Ohio Community Band
This is an adult ensemble open to anyone with 2 years of playing experience.
They practice out of Unioto High School on Tuesday Nights.
